Plant-based oil and grease resistant polymers

Beat oil and grease, and leave forever chemicals behind with FILMKOTE™ and REDIFILM™ barrier starches

Eliminate fluorochemicals in oil and grease resistant paper grades with these unique and natural plant-based polymer formulations. FILMKOTE™ barrier starches are powders that require cooking for preparation and REDIFILM™ barrier starches are ready-for-use liquid products suitable for most specialty coatings.

FILMKOTE™ barrier starches for custom barrier formulations

Experience better runnability, improved film formation, and enhanced barrier properties for oil and grease resistance compared to conventional starches. The shear-thinning rheology of FILMKOTE™ starches benefits runnability on oil and grease resistant grades which have been shown to operate near the limitations of the application.

FILMKOTE™ barrier starches are compatible with common surface treatment additives, including most sizing agents (AKD, SAE, SMA), latex, AZC or KZC (zirconium-based crosslinking agents), thickeners (CMC, sodium alginate), and salt.

REDIFILM™ liquid barrier starches

REDIFILM™ liquid barrier starches offer the same chemical composition and performance benefits as FILMKOTE™ barrier starches, but as ready-for-use liquids that do not require cooking.

REDIFILM™ liquids are designed to simplify complexities of formula makedown and associated coating system challenges which can be common in developmental trials or on specialty grades, or where system design or limitations can be difficult to overcome. REDIFILM™ liquid barrier starches do not require cooking.

REDIFILM™ liquids 2030 is compatible with common surface treatment additives, including sizing agents (AKD, SAE, SMA), coating latex, AZC or KZC (zirconium-based crosslinkers), thickeners (CMC, sodium alginate), or salt.
